A round up of my last 12 months

Wow – 2016 has flown by so quickly, it only seems like yesterday I was putting together some of my favourite images from 2015!

This year has been my second full year as a wedding photographer in Cornwall and I can honestly say that I love what I do. I feel very lucky to be able to call this my job.

Not only do I get to meet some fantastic people but I’m able to photograph weddings at some great venues too, and what a variety I have had this year! From Cornwall’s very own ‘secret garden’ to ‘one of the most haunted places in Britain’, to name just a couple.

During the year I have also had my work published in some national wedding blogs. In August, I was thrilled to find out that one of my images had been selected amongst hundreds of entries to feature in the ‘August Collection’ of the popular wedding blog Your Perfect Wedding Photographer. What an honour to feature alongside some truly great photographers.

Not only have I found my work personally gratifying, I have also found ways to use photography in a way that helps others, specifically raising awareness for Alzheimers UK, a fantastic charity that assists individuals (and their families) in coping with a deteriorative condition that affects their ability to cope with day to day tasks and remembering key moments. This is where I feel photography plays such an important role in keeping those memories alive.

To help raise awareness, in November I set myself a challenge to walk 100km in a four week period and raise £120 to help fund vital research into the disease. I have been overwhelmed by people’s support and well wishes and am delighted to say that I achieved 101.2km and raised £465. Thank you to everyone who donated, it feels great to be a part of something that will make a difference to so many lives across the county.

So here’s a little round up of my last twelve months and a few of my favourite images from some of the weddings I’ve photographed in Cornwall. I hope you enjoy looking through them and here’s to 2017! If you’re getting married and are looking for a wedding photographer, please feel free to get in touch. I would love to hear from you and discuss your big day.

Merry Christmas!
