An English Summer Tea Party Wedding
On 11th June I had the honour of being the professional Cornwall photographer to capture a special day where Sophie married Rob at the beautiful wedding venue Pengenna Manor, situated in Trelill which is near to Wadebridge, Cornwall.
A brief history
Pengenna is an Elizabethan country house tucked away in a quiet, secluded valley just three miles inland from the North Cornish coast. It is an 800-year-old private family home set in over 300 acres of beautiful Cornish countryside and truly a magnificent place to get married; steeped in history and set in stunning grounds, the perfect setting for a professional Cornwall photographer like myself to capture your special day.
The Wedding Day
Sophie and Rob hired Pengenna on an exclusive basis for their 60 or so guests to celebrate their wedding. It was an emotional and truly special day for all the guests and of course the bride and groom which made capturing the day that bit more special for me.
The couple took their vows in the summer house which was decorated in white paper laser-cut bunting. The surrounding apple and cherry blossom trees were strung with a variety of brightly coloured pom-poms, which stood out against the beautiful views down and across the valley.
The colours and the whole setting was an absolute dream to capture; as a professional Cornwall photographer I have seen many stunning settings but this had to be one of my favourites. This country wedding can only be described as quirky and natural; with clean, crisp whites and splashes of bright colour throughout.
Hot pink, orange and yellow were the colours of choice which were replicated within the flowers, which were all in season and locally grown. Sophie’s bouquet was a mix of white flowers and the bridesmaid’s bouquets were all brightly coloured; the arrangements were loosely tied and relaxed.
It was important to Sophie to use only local Cornish produce, the only item not locally sourced being the napkins; no one even noticed!
Their reception resembled an English summer tea party and was held in a large purpose built marquee on the lawn. The catering company provided mobile wood-fired pizza and guests were given the opportunity to play a range of popular vintage garden games, such as the coconut shy, both before and after the tea party.
As the professional Cornwall photographer who captured this special day between Sophie and Rob here are a collection of some of my favourite pictures from the day…
Congratulations Sophie and Rob!
