St Agnes, Cornwall
St Agnes is a picturesque village on the north coast of Cornwall about five miles north of Redruth and ten miles southwest of Newquay. It is a place that I love to visit and photograph due to its outstanding natural beauty.
Steeped in mining history, this large village retains a traditional friendly Cornish atmosphere and has four sandy beaches, Trevaunance Cove Beach, Chapel Porth, Trevellas Porth and Porthtowan, all of which are popular with locals and tourists alike.
There are dramatic coastal walks along the famous South West Coast Path and breath-taking scenery filled with relics from the past, including the iconic Wheal Coates engine house.
St Agnes has a thriving community with a good choice of shops, galleries and craft workshops where beautiful gifts are made by hand.
The village even has its own museum which is full of fascinating artefacts and information about the Parish.
St Agnes has a selection of hotels to accommodate tourists who are drawn to the area for its stunning scenery and beaches; one of those hotels being the Rose in Vale Country House Hotel, which is located in the nearby village of Mithian, a mile east of St Agnes. The hotel is popular with visitors looking for a peaceful break away, as it is situated in a tranquil wooded valley, miles away from the hustle and bustle of busy life. It is also available to hire on an exclusive basis for couples looking to get married in Cornwall.
